Tour Selection – November 19-20

Gemini Gymnastics is proud of our eight Gemini athletes who competed at Tour Selection held at Base Borden on November 19-20.  Tour is an opportunity for gymnasts aged 13 and over in Level 7, 8, 9  to travel and compete internationally for Team Ontario.  This year, the Ontario Team is traveling to Cancun, Mexico from January 5-8.  Gemini qualified three athletes to travel and earned one team coach spot!  As well, a Gemini athlete is first alternate to the team.

LEVEL 7

Kaitlyn Errington and Trisha Shewchuk competed in a new level for the first time and did very well in a field of 59 athletes!  Kaitlyn received a gold for her beam routine and a silver for her floor routine.  Trisha achieved a 6th place for her beam routine.

LEVEL 8

Four representatives from Gemini athletes competed in a category of 35 gymnasts.  Congratulations to newcomers Cailey Shewchuk and Danielle Jacobson who qualified for the Ontario Team.  Cailey placed 5th overall with a 5th on beam, 6th on bars and an 8th on floor.  Danielle was 8th all around with a silver on bars.  Bria Mitchell received a bronze medal for her beam routine and was 4th place on floor for 9th overall, qualifying as the first alternate for the team.  Justine Veillette, also in her first competition as a Level 8, received a 5th on bars and 8th on beam for 14th overall.

LEVEL 9

Gemini was represented by Daijha Heron and newcomer Rebecca Snider.  In a tough competition of 29 athletes, Daijha qualified for the Ontario Team in 5th spot.  She earned a bronze in vault  bars and added a 5th place for her floor routine.  Rebecca proved to be an up and coming Level 9 with her 6th place on floor for 15th overall!

ONTARIO TEAM

We congratulate Cailey, Danielle, Daijha and the rest of Team Canada and wish them good luck in the New Year at the Cancun Classic.
